Body confidence and self confidence go hand in hand, you can have both, one or another or neither one at all, but what's the difference to you and how to you gain body confidence? 


I think for me, body confidence is just purely about not concerning myself about what other people think of my body and loving my body despite of what anyone may think or say. Self confidence on the other hand is having confidence in all aspects of your life, whether it's having confidence in your relationships, your work capabilities, your faith or anything else. 


Having spent my whole life with people telling me that I'm overweight, I really didn't feel beautiful and I had a checklist of things that I wanted to change about myself so needless to say I had absolutely no body confidence. I think for me, loving my body came really gradually, so don't expect for anything to magically happen overnight, because Lord knows we all have bad days but here are a few tips from me to help you on your journey of gaining body confidence (promise it's not going to be the same tips as this post about accessorising with self confidence). 


Understand that your body is SO strong! 

I'm sure you, just like me, have has a tonne of trials and lessons learnt in your life and you're still here to tell the story and share the lessons you've learnt. Give your body credit for everything it does for you, it is strong. You are strong. 


Love your best assets! 

If you have a banging set of eyebrows, rock it! Make it your thing. If you have really great legs, go for it girl, flaunt your gorgeous pins! If you love your arms or hands, wear something to compliment and accentuate that part of your body. In doing this you will feel really great about yourself because you've love a body part even more than you usually would. 


Love your 'problem areas'

Once you've got the confidence in those star qualities you love about your body, start loving yourself silly and fall in love with the rest of your body. If you don't like your arms and would NEVER be caught in a strapless number, go and buy yourself a stunning strapless top that you feel amazing in and it might sit in your closet for a while but keep trying it on and one day wear it out and watch when no one negatively on your arms like you might. 


Give yourself some extra attention

For some women, total body confidence might be a bit easier to grasp with bright pink nail polish on. So spoil yourself! Buy that next vogue edition and a glass of bubbles and just relax, that's how I spoil myself as a introvert, but maybe it looks a little different for you. 


Stop putting yourself down 

Looking in the mirror and wishing things were different aren't going to do anything but put negative thoughts in your head. If you really want to change your body then no one is stopping you but make sure that it's not for any reason other than to better yourself. 


Don't pay attention to what the media thinks is beauty 

The moment I discovered plus size bloggers on Pinterest, my life was changed. I felt like I wasn't alone in this world of skinny women and was so inspired by their confidence. Beauty isn't just having a size 8 waist or big booty or anything else. Find inspiration in people who don't fit the typical mould, loving peoples differences make this a beautiful world to live in.


Be kind to others

Outside beauty is a reflection of you inner beauty. Be kind yourself and others and let your beauty come from within. Being kind to others will soften your heart and help you realise  that people love you, imperfections and all.
