Valentines day is here, the day filled with romance, chivalry, roses and love hearts. Today will be the first valentines together with my gorgeous man and he will be my first Valentine. I have been in a relationship before on valentines day but he turned out to be a bit of a dick so it clearly doesn't count.
I think the real love story this year is actually the romance I've been working on with myself. You might have noticed but I've been cultivating an extra curvy figure of late and while my boyfriend doesn't love me any less I could feel myself not being to happy with my weight and my eating habits. Growing to love yourself at any size also includes the moments in life when your weight fluctuates.
Now because I'm a logical person I need to justify my weight gain with logic, so 2016 was a pretty challenging year for me, I suffered a mental breakdown, changed my career and broke my leg. I also decided I wouldn't be able to exercise in my recovery (great excuse Clair) and started to eat allllllllll the cakes and ribs (emotional eater, hullo!). While that was awesome while it lasted, it also means that I've become unhealthy in my habits and gained a pretty significant amount of weight. So I've decided it's time to start another chapter in love story that is my body confidence and self love. It's time to love myself healthy (please don't assume I mean skinny when I say that, I just want my old curvy healthier more toned body back) and I'm going to work hard and give up the excuses for to benefit my health. I can give you all some more details in another post if that's something you're interested in hearing about, let me know in the comments section below.
So tonight for valentines, I'm off on a dinner date with the bf and THIS is my outfit. I am so in love with this skirt by Nyata, the MENTORING SKIRT. I absolutely love the way it hugs my hips, and the sequins are such a gorgeous, glamours element.
I just want to highlight a few more things about this skirt, 'cause I just can't get enough of it. The fabric is so perfect to smooth out any loved wobbly bits, and the waist band is actually a well disguised elasticated waist, it also has a zipper but the combination of these two means for someone who has curvy af hips but a small waist like me it just fits so perfect. Literally I'm so in love.
I might have to repurpose this skirt for a corporate style post because that's how versatile this piece is.
I'd love to know what you've got planned for Valentines day, have you got an occasion for some sequins coming up?! Let me know in the comments section below. Love you xx
